Located in a 1950's pier building built on the shores of Lake Washington, the project involved the complete renovation of an existing condominium. The owner's unit is at the end of the building sitting above the water with extensive views of the lake to the north, east, and south.
The owners, based in New York City, requested a simple contemporary but whimsical finish to the unit that would accommodate seasonal visits to Seattle.
The unit plan is a clean mid-century two-bedroom layout with an open plan for the living spaces. The design incorporates modest yet functional materials throughout.
The renovation required demolition down to the raw framing in the public rooms, and a total reconstruction of the wood floor assemble. The new floor included insulated radiant heat over the concrete pier main structure.
